I’m Jamie Lee, aka: Mother Fix-It.
I’m also a solo mom of autistic children, and after 17 years of navigating autism services, assessments, doctors, schools, and support systems, I realized something:
I had gotten really, really good at making my children’s lives work.
So good that sometimes, from the outside, it looked like they didn’t need much support.
But the support was there.
I was the support.
I was laying the foundation, anticipating needs, prompting, preparing, monitoring, problem-solving, advocating, organizing, and filling in the gaps that nobody could see.
And I learned how to make that invisible support visible.
Now I’m teaching other autism parents how to do the same.
Not how to exaggerate.
Not how to manipulate the system.
Not how to say what someone “wants to hear.”
How to accurately explain what is actually happening.
Because “They can do it” and “They can do it independently” are not always the same thing.
Welcome to Mother Fix-It.
Make the invisible support visible.
